Tech News for the Day, Wednesday, October 21, 2009

I already mentioned this in my previous article, but Apple has updated their remote, as well as practically everything else they put out. You can read about the remote here.

Check out this Glympse iPhone app. If nothing else, if features a funky video with talking hands.

Monster Cable has recently unveiled some headphones based on Miles Davis.

Speaking of headphones, Solid Alliance has some crazy headphones that are plain…crazy. See for yourself.

Brando has come up with an iPhone flexible microphone.

You might want to see the first Bluetooth headset with the i.Tech SolarVoice 908.

Ever do slot racing toys when you were a kid? You can do them a lot easier with Race in a Case.

Someone has created a remote control bat with the i-Fly Vamp. Clearly a seasonal item for the end of this month.

Update on the Mac Updates

I’m not a Mac man, but whenever Apple does something, it is big, and always worthy of report.

Without further ado, here is what happened yesterday:

iMac: These aluminum-cased updates include a 21.5 and 27 inch screen, with 16 x 9 format, not to mention viewing angles of 178 degrees with minimal resolution of 1080p.

New iMacs will come with a wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse. The 27 inch model has an SD-card and video-in cable.

Magic Mouse: What is a Magic Mouse, you ask? This is a wireless mouse that has no scroll wheel but has multitouch gestures that will give greater control of your scrolling, among other things.

MacBook: It’s got a new unibody that is all plastic. It’s touchpad is made from glass and is totally multitouch. It’s also got a seven-hour battery.

Mac mini: The Mac Mini will feature an optional Mac Mini Server. This does away with the optical drive and replaces it with a 500GB HDD. As it is, the specs on the base model are 2.26 GHZ Core 2 Duo CPU with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD.

Oh yes, there is an Apple remote that you can read about here.

Google Music coming? Watch out iTunes.

Yesterday I reported about a possible war between Wal-Mart and Amazon simply because of a move the former company did to sell low-priced books online, and now there is another fight brewing: Apple vs. Google.

Apparently, there has been some rumor going around that the big G is negotiating with the big four music labels, procuring rights for songs and music videos.

What does this mean? It would appear that Google’s new music service could bring some competition to the near-monopoly that iTunes currently has.

I suppose that we shall see.
