Hey there, gamers, some of you have spent time playing music games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band in the last several years. Of course, these games have been popular because they give you the chance to play along with and listen to many of the classic hits of your favorite musical artists. However, this gaming experience isn’t perfect. Gamers are basically playing through a simulation with large, plastic controllers designed to look like guitars. But this lacks authenticity for playing music during a game.

For those of you who want more realism in your music game experience, Seven45 Studios is ready to grant your wish. This company is a game developer that originated from a professional musical instruments manufacturer called First Act, who specializes in making instruments for newer musicians at the beginner’s level. Today, Seven45 Studios announced their new creation called Power Gig: Rise of the Six String. It is a music game that uses real guitars for gameplay.

Power Gig is very similar to Guitar Hero and Rock Band in terms of musical gaming but the guitar it comes with is the real selling point here. The guitars are made with low-end plywood and plastic to give players the feel of a real instrument. The instruments are compatible for use with X-Box 360 or the PS3. They work by pressing a button, which releases a dampening block from inside the guitar to hold the strings in place. Then the instrument will start the game through use of its fingerboard. The guitars also have quarter-inch instrument jacks so they can be plugged into any guitar amp.

The game itself also provides a strong narrative element, which was inspired by other games like Brutal Legend. Power Gig is set to be released this fall and a microphone and drums are also included with the guitar. The opportunity to use a real guitar in gameplay sounds is very exciting to me. This music game has the potential to be more popular than previous ones but we’ll have to wait until the fall to find out.
