Don’t you just love it when people say that, “oh, God must be cursing him/her/them/it”. Yeah, I don’t like it either.

It’s common, dating back to biblical times. Go ahead and read Deuteronomy 1-2, Acts 28, and then the entry here.

A New Generation Of Helicopter May Be Coming

dragonfly-copter-20100317-513Now we should be familiar with the normal design of helicopter from television and movies. It uses a large motor placed on its middle and spins the blades one way while rotating the body of the craft the other way. Furthermore, a tail rotor is also is required to counteract the force of the motor, keeping the helicopter balanced. Now the development of a new model may be the sign of a new generation of helicopter approaching.

This new design is actually a fully-operational model created by Swisscopter Americas. They call it the Dragonfly DF1. This model of helicopter is unique because the main rotor doesn’t need to be powered by a motor. The blades are self-powered by tiny, hydrogen-peroxide jets located on the blade tips. This allows the blades to spin without pushing the body of the aircraft. However, a tail rotor is still required for balancing and turning the copter. This model has been in the making for years and now Swisscopter Americas is planning to create a follow-up design called the DF2.

The Dragonfly helicopter is flight-certified in the United States and could arrive on the market in the near future. Another benefit of this new helicopter is that it’s considered safer for the environment than regular copters. However, such an innovation obviously won’t be inexpensive when it makes its debut.
