Nyko Charge Base IC

wii_chargebaseic_product_03If you like to use the Nintendo Wii, then you know how the Wiimotes love to eat up battery power during gameplay.

Nyko has created chargers for the Wiimotes, and the Charge Base IC is different because it uses magnets. It is quite cool to attach the Wiimotes to the cradle and have them lock there like magic. It is pretty cool, and it even has a USB port in case you want to charge up your USB devices.

EA Sports’ Active Gets A Sequel

active-20-ea-sports

Since its release quite a while ago, the Nintendo Wii has been offering gamers the chance to play with the use of full body motion to make gameplay more interactive. Some players also find the Wii very helpful for getting an actual workout to exercise and improve their own health. In recent years, we’ve seen fitness games and products released for the Nintendo console such as WiiFit and game developers like EA Sports have also joined the fitness gaming genre. Now EA is preparing to give us their latest fitness development.

Last year, EA Sports released a fitness game called Active, which included jumping, arm motion and cardio-style workouts for those gamers looking to get more exercise. Now EA offers a new follow-up called Active 2.0. At this time, it is still in development but upon its release in the fall, it will be compatible with the Wii, PS3, iPod and iPhone. The program for Active 2.0 promises to deliver “true fitness” through a new wireless control system using leg and arm straps with motion sensors, a heart rate monitor and an online hub to track and share information from exercise.

However, available sources do not explain how the iPod and iPhone will be involved in the use of this new fitness gaming program. Furthermore, it is also interesting that Active 2.0 seems to have excluded the X-Box 360 as a game console for compatibility. Personally, I have to wonder how well EA Sports will do in keeping their promises concerning this new development. Unanswered questions about iPod and iPhone use and 360 compatibility could be just cause for reasonable doubt about the credibility of Active 2.0.

My review of the WiiFit Plus

wii-fit-plus_1I recently got the WiiFit Plus for Christmas, and discovered a real treat. You should check it out for yourself, because it has some very terrific games on it.

Best of all, if you already have the original WiiFit, you can buy the WiiFit Plus game only for just $20, and it is completely compatible.

Dead Space Extraction Released Today

Dead Space ExtractionI hope that a lot of my readers are video game fanatics, and have at least heard of the Dead Space video game. The game may not have been the next Doom, but it apparently deserved a sequel: Dead Space Extraction.

Actually, this one’s a prequel. While the first Dead Space was made for the PS3, this one is exclusively for the Wii. It takes advantage of the Wii’s motion-controller so you can shoot a lot of violent aliens in this violent M-rated game.

Yes, I’ve spoken about violent video games before, and this would be one of them. I still haven’t changed my mind about them, and if you would like more information, go ahead and click here.

Nintendo Wii on its way out, Wii HD rumored to arrive in 2011

500x_nintendo_wii_interrogationThere comes a time when you see the signs of the times, and you know things are coming to an end. I’m not really talking about the Second Coming, because I don’t think I can read those signs too well.

Of course, that is another story. The story that I would talk about is the Nintendo Wii. It had a great opening with too little supply to meet the incoming holiday demand, and the Wiimote simplified the button-munching controllers from the other two competitors.

Alas it has appeared that its run is about to come to an end. I am not going to report this officially, but I will just report the aforementioned signs.

Web Browser on the Wii, for free!

Wii_Internet_Channel_01_610x360Sometimes I get up in the morning and discover something that is just plain sweet. Today, it was the discovery that a Web browser is now available for the Nintendo Wii, for nothing.

This wasn’t the first time that Nintendo offered this application, but it suddenly pulled it in 2007 and said: “You want it, you pay 500 Wiipoints for it”. Now it is free, and it works, and you can read about how to do it here.
